My Own Struggle with Alignment: Good Patty and Her "Evil Twin"
Let me share a personal story—a little battle I like to call Good Patty versus her “evil twin.”
Good Patty is all about growth. She’s ambitious, focused on building the business, and knows exactly what needs to be done—a solid sales process. The head is fully engaged, strategizing and planning. But then there’s her evil twin—the part of me that just doesn’t feel connected to the process. While Good Patty is ready to master sales techniques, the evil twin drags her feet, thinking, "Do I really want to spend my time on this?" The heart just isn’t in it.
Sales, for me, can feel like a distraction from the real work I love—helping leaders grow and fostering alignment. This internal conflict is a classic case of misalignment. My head says, “This is what you need to do,” but my heart isn’t following through, so my actions end up being inconsistent. I might start a new sales process, but without my heart in it, my commitment falters, and the results are lackluster.
A Practical Approach to Breakthrough: Align Head, Heart, and Hands
To get back on track, I had to pause and recalibrate. I asked myself, “Why does this matter to me?” When I dug deeper, I realized that what I truly care about is building relationships and helping people. Reframing the sales process as an extension of the work I love—connecting with people and offering real solutions—brought my heart back into the equation.
Once my head, heart, and hands were aligned, taking action became so much easier and more effective. I wasn’t just going through the motions anymore—I was fully engaged, and it started to show in the results.
